Bryan Van Stippen, Program Director for the National Indian Carbon Coalition (NICC), talks us through NICC’s work to educate and assist indigenous communities in developing carbon sequestration projects. These projects help protect their natural resources and generate revenue for land acquisition and community development.

This episode highlights two recent projects that are now at market from:

• The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, and
• The Keweenaw Bay Indian community.

These two projects showcase the powerful impacts that alternative revenue streams–beyond traditional forestry, agriculture, and mineral extraction–can help tribal nations protect and preserve their natural resources.
